Traditionally, a roast Suckling Pig or ‘Spanferkel’ is a little or small baby pig between the ages of 2 and 6 weeks, roasted in wood chips on spits, served at Festivals like Oktoberfest. Cleaned and seasoned whole baby pigs are roasted for a few hours till crispy and deliciously yummy. The key is marinading well in advance so that the flavours are captured through and through to the bone. Enjoy served hot with Sauerkraut, Sausage and German breads. Ideal with an Apple or Plum Sauce, a Spanish style Salsa Verde or even an Asian style Thai Lime and Herb Sauce. Also, serve as appetizers and cold cuts along with vegetable, fruit and cheese canapes. Wash down with a fine German beer…Prost!

Cooking Instruction:
Pan Fry/Sauté – Can be sliced or pieced suitably & pan-fried on medium to high heat for about 7-10 mins..turning all over.
Grill – Preheat griller/oven at 170°C – 180°C. Reheat for about 10-15 minutes or until hot right through…turning occassionally.
